Show Shoes
To enjoy outdoor activities in the winter months during physical education.
We already have a storage locker for the current sets of snow shoes. We would need a set of cubbies to hold all the snow shoes, a sign-up sheet to schedule which classes will be using the snowshoes on which days and a checkout clip board to keep track of all equipment.
We will be able to track and record the number of classes and students using the equipment through the check-out sheets. We currently do physical fitness testing and goal setting with all the students as part of the current PE program. We can also teach the students that even in the winter months of snow in Tahoe we can still get outside to exercise and continue to work toward our goals.
We currently have 50 pairs of snopw shoes that we are unable to use efficiently bacuase of lack of sizes and snow boots for the students. We are hoping to purchase 10 new pairs of smaller snow shoes and 50 pairs of snow boots.
Our PLC's biggest concerns have been around having enough space to offer rigorous and meaningful physical education. We currently have four different PE programs running at the North Tahoe School/North Tahoe High School site. We only have two gyms and a small dance room to offer these simultaneous programs. Having outdoor winter equipment would free up indoor space as well as provide enjoyable physical education in our amazing Lake Tahoe winter surroundings. We also want to partner with the Science PLC to offer use of the equipment for them to continue to explore our outdoor ecology in the winter months.
