Portable Technology
To introduce all students to different types of technology, and how to manipulate them.
Students will have lessons on how to use the cameras. They will then go out on our campus and on field trips, taking pictures (not of other children) of the subject matter. If we had memory cards for the cameras they could take several pictures. Once we had the flash drives we could load the pics onto the flash and then the computers. Students could also work on things like their biography in their classroom and the computer lab by saving it onto the flash drive.
Students able to manipulate a camera and take positive pictures.Students able to manipulate the pictures once on the computer.Students being able to transfer material from computer to computer.
Technology is becoming an integral part of everyday life. The greatest gifts of technology are: it's excitement, ability to be manipulated and portability. I am writing this grant to help facilitate this and more in our classrooms. I would like to purchase digital cameras, memory cards for the cameras and 40+ flash drives. Within the Technology class I am supporting the classrooms in our pursuit of exemplifying our science focus. For example, the third grade was identifying plant and tree species. I would love to be able to take the students out and take pictures of the plants and trees around our school. Then we could bring those pictures into the Lab, download and label them. If the students are working in their classroom on a project, they should be able to load it on the flash drive and bring it to the computer lab, or vice-versa, to finish or spruce up. Cameras can be a great learning tool on field trips too.
As the Technology teacher, I am trying to bring different types of technology to the students and help the teachers incorporate more technology into their classrooms.
